Love locks over the Pegnitz
Love locks over the Pegnitz

I like this shot. Love locks attached to a bridge over the Pegnitz River here in Nuremberg. I know that these are considered somewhat an epidemic in some places (in Paris, bridges are straining under the weight of locks), but there’s something romantic about them.

I find it powerfully symbolic, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s over the Seine with the Eiffel Tower in the background or on a pedestrian bridge over the Pegnitz, it represents a strength of feeling that endures beyond the life of the relationship. Or at endures until council workers come along with bolt cutters.
