Happy Waitangi Day!
February 6 is Waitangi Day, New Zealand’s national holiday. It commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, the document on which the nation was founded in 1840.
I feel particularly homesick today, and that’s amplified now that Melissa is away for work. Luckily, I have some kiwi Marmite and Whittaker’s Chocolate to help ease my pain. I’m not eating them together though, that would be disgusting. Although I wouldn’t put it past Whittaker’s to attempt the collaboration, given their track record (It couldn’t get much worse than L&P chocolate, to be fair).
This is a panorama I took during a visit home to Auckland last year. The sunset was absolutely beautiful, and Auckland is blessed (cursed depending on your situation) with the hills from which to enjoy awesome views such as this. This was taken from Mt Eden in central Auckland, overlooking the CBD and Auckland Harbour.
