It was awesome to be in Edinburgh for Hogmanay, and we can’t wait to go back for an extended visit. It’s an eclectic mix of old and new, you could spend days exploring the closes and wynds of the old town to find the random and the wonderful tucked away in its folds. Standing sentinel over the city is Edinburgh Castle. Intimidating and beautiful, it’s easy to see why it was subjected to sieges and battles for its control.
I snapped this photo just before sunset on New Year’s Eve. The weather had been pretty miserable all day, so the sun peeking through the clouds provided a nice little tough of drama to the scene. It was an awesome way to close out the last hour of sunlight for the year.
